So thankful for the connections we make along the way

We thought this old store display was almost as GUM-believable as the people we met when buying it.

This was one of the first pieces purchased after making the decision to leave corporate life, and the connection made with Kathy + Gene could not have come at a better time. We were driving to spend the day at the lake to celebrate giving notice the day prior when we saw a big "ANTIQUES" sign on a house in small town Wisconsin - we stopped in and found an amazing collection of advertising, retail displays, and history. We got to chatting with the owners who explained they had been collecting their whole lives and could not have been more supportive and excited when they learned about The Mustache Cat. They were quick to share advice (where they found the best pieces and 'picked' their collection), learnings (buying with quality not quantity in mind), experience (researching auction pricing to help determine value of items), and gave so much encouragement.

We have stayed in touch and can't wait to have them visit the shop to see this dream realized. Not only is this an amazing piece with a cool story about the original use, to me the #storybehindthestuff here is about the special people and connection made when buying it.

So thankful for Kathy + Gene and the connections yet to be made at this little shop!
