Summer Fun with Allie
Working hard + having fun being a tourist in The Twin CitIes
If you haven’t gotten a chance to meet Allie, come by and say “hi!” and if you’re feeling jazzy, you can call her Gibby 🐒
She has been is visiting for a few weeks and has been busy helping with all kinds of fun things Mustache Cat (how lucky am I?!) You’ll catch her doing stuff behind the scenes, at the shop, and building some fabulous new experiences we can’t wait to share with this community. She has been hard at work bringing an idea I’ve had for a while to life - The Style Series aims to share tips/tricks/design 101 to help make adding interest to your home fun + approachable.
Another bonus of having Allie around this summer is a friendly reminder to be a tourist in your own town - we had a lot of fun celebrating our city and doing a bit of road tripping (in the name of cool vintage stuff of course)! Sharing some of our favorite adventures:
🛼 Friday Night Roller skating in Rice Park - Twin Cities Skaters provides the skates and it features a local DJ - can confirm your favorite songs still make you want to get up and dance!
💚 Loons Game at Allianz Field - we thoroughly enjoyed the tickets won at the annual YWCA Saint Paul fundraiser earlier this spring. Such amazing energy!
🕺 Working out at ONX - if you’re looking for me on a Wednesday night, you can usually find me at ONX. They offer lots of amazing yoga + fitness classes, and my favorite is Cardio Dance. Nina teaches a fabulous class with a come as you are attitude - I always leave feeling great and energized to begin my week (Wednesdays are my Mondays)
🚴 Biking Minnehaha Falls - highly recommend renting a bike (we chose E-Bikes for a little extra boost) and riding from Minnehaha Falls to the Creek to the lakes. We had so much fun doing this after closing the shop. LOVING the late hour sunshine!
⛳️ Walker Art Mini Golf - recreating a photo we took from Allie’s last visit to Minnesota (she was 7) of us jumping in front of the Spoon and Cherry was a must, and we figured we’d have a little adventure while there too. Artist inspired mini golf, now on the roof of the Walker was a fabulous addition to the day
🛵 Day trip to Duluth - when I found a bowling alley looking to sell their 1970’s orange seats (cannot wait to share these with you), I knew a day trip was in order. We scootered along Lake Superior, walked Canal Park, bopped around Hawk Ridge + Lester Park, and ended the day at Wild State Cider - one of my favorite Duluth spots for a great drink, pretzel, and Vermont style cremee.
🧀 An afternoon in Stillwater - after working the shop, we headed to Stillwater. We slammed the brakes (much like we do for a garage sale sign) for raspberry picking, caught the tail end of Lumberjack Days, enjoyed a walk along the water, ate delicious cheese curds, grabbed treats at Candyland, and got henna tattoos of The Mustache Cat logo - time to add a permanent one?
⚾️ Twins Game - we watched the Twins Win and caught Friday night fireworks at the stadium. Fun Fact* one of my favorite things to do at baseball games is keep score
We’ve got a few more fun plans up our sleeves for the remainder of Allie’s time here, so check back for more Tourist in your own Town content!
