Story Behind this Antique Barber Pole: From New Jersey to Saint Paul

If you know us, you know we are passionate about cool old stuff - especially the stuff with a great story 💈

And if you have been around here for a while, you may know about Jude - the amazing woman that owns an antique store in New Jersey near where I grew up. My Dad and I would visit her shop regularly and she has been quite an inspiration for The Mustache Cat 🧡

Last fall, Jude opened her space for me to purchase some unbelievable vintage pieces including (but not limited to) the barber pole we recently hung in the shop. It needed a little cleanup and some new wiring, so we prioritized the work to ensure it made it to the shop with our red, white + blue display ❤️🤍💙

Upon closer inspection, we found the tag from the original manufacturer - dating back to the 1930s documents that it was made right here in Saint Paul, Minnesota! Can you believe this piece somehow made it back here? 🙀

It’s fun to imagine the life this pole lived between original sale sometime in the 1930’s to now and we can’t wait to hear about its continued adventures when it finds its next home 🏠
