The Mustache Cat at the Fair
To celebrate one year of The Mustache Cat, my sister-in-law, Erin, made this absolutely incredible quilt. It was entered in the Wall Quilt competition at the @mnstatefair and was definitely the blue ribbon winner in our hearts.
Some fun facts about this quilt:
She used each of our brand colors in it!
She leveraged a pattern for the front of the quilt and chose different fabrics + designs to completely customize the quilt for us
The back of the quilt was completely free-handed by Erin utilizing scraps from the front of the quilt - creating the most unique and sustainable (zero waste) quilt!
Our favorite part is the sweet note inscribed on the back with stitched versions of our 2 cat namesakes
We love visiting the Minnesota State Fair every year regardless, but this year it was extra special. We honestly felt like the paparazzi during our visits and SO appreciated the love for this amazing piece from our community (check out some of our favorite models with the quilt at the fair below)!
Every time I saw someone admiring I felt compelled to tell them some version of “I know the person that made this quilt”, “isn’t that the most amazing thing?! or “that’s my quilt! (and then quickly admitting) well, I didn’t make it, but it was a gift to me” 🤣
If you didn’t get a chance to see The Mustache Cat quilt at home among the animal themed display in the Creative Arts Building, we will be coordinating a time for it to be on display at the shop soon for your very own paparazzi shot 📸
